When literature gives you goosebumps: Samhain at the Erfurt Main Library
On October 27, 2026, the Main Library at Erfurt Cathedral Square transforms into a place of literary eeriness. The afternoon is dedicated to texts about the uncanny, the mysterious, and the unknown – fitting for the upcoming Halloween season and the darker time of year.
Literature between shadow and mystery
The focus is on a presentation and reading that takes the audience into the world of horror literature. Stories about inexplicable events, mysterious places, and hidden depths open a multifaceted panorama of the genre. Here, linguistic tension, atmospheric density, and the fascination of the unknown meet.
Lost Places and ghostly photographs
The program combines literary texts with visual impressions. Lost Places and ghostly photographs enhance the reading with a visually powerful layer and invite the audience to view familiar reality with new eyes. Between abandoned spaces, dark narrative motifs, and enigmatic images, an intense reading atmosphere is created.
A literary experience at the Cathedral Square
The Erfurt Main Library provides the perfect setting for this eerie yet beautiful literary afternoon. As a public library, it serves as a place for promoting reading, cultural encounters, and exchange. Samhain connects these tasks with a popular literary theme: the enduring fascination with suspense, horror, mystery, and fantastic storytelling forms.
Conclusion
Visitors can expect a roughly 90-minute presentation and reading about literature that sends shivers down your spine, Lost Places, and ghostly photographs. Those who wish to explore the dark side of literature and experience an atmospheric afternoon between language, image, and mystery will find a special date in the Erfurt cultural calendar at Cathedral Square.
