Riethsporthalle | Events & Parking
The Riethsporthalle in Erfurt is a modern multipurpose sports hall in the northern part of the city, which has long established itself as a fixed address for competitions, home games, and local sporting events. Those searching for Riethsporthalle Erfurt, Riethsporthalle events, or Riethsporthalle parking usually want to quickly know what is currently happening, how to get there, and what spaces are available on-site. This hall is designed precisely for that: it combines sporting functionality with good accessibility, clear pathways, and a size that is suitable for both club sports and larger game days. The Erfurt sports operation describes the hall with more than 2,000 m² of hall space, up to 1,500 spectator seats, and several ancillary rooms; at the same time, it is located not far from tram lines 1 and 6 in the Rieth district. This makes the location equally interesting for visitors, teams, and organizers. In practice, the Riethsporthalle is primarily a stage for active moments: volleyball games, basketball matches, tournaments, club events, and other sports formats. So, when someone types in Riethsporthalle today, Riethsporthalle address, Riethsporthalle maps, or Riethsporthalle photos, they are actually looking for a compact, reliable overview of access, usage, facilities, and current event opportunities. ([erfurter-sportbetrieb.de](https://erfurter-sportbetrieb.de/project/riethsporthalle/))
Events today, tickets, and current dates
When people search for Riethsporthalle events today or Riethsporthalle Erfurt events, it usually involves very specific questions: Is there currently a home game? Are there tickets available for pre-sale? And where can I see if the hall is being used publicly on that day? The most reliable information comes from the organizers themselves. For volleyball, Schwarz-Weiß Erfurt publishes its home game dates and explicitly uses the Riethsporthalle as its home venue; current game announcements also mention the hall as the venue. The Ticketshop Thüringen also lists the Riethsporthalle as a venue and displays events and tickets for specific dates there. For basketball, the official club section of the CATL Basketball Löwen identifies the hall as its own venue and even states on a game day page that the hall can be easily reached by car or tram. This means for visitors: The hall is not just a building, but a lively venue with an ongoing program organized by the participating clubs and ticket providers. Therefore, anyone wanting to check what is happening today, tomorrow, or over the weekend should look at the current club pages and ticket listings. This also highlights the strength of the Riethsporthalle as a search topic: The hall is strongly associated with the terms program, tickets, home game, and current dates because it is regularly used for publicly advertised sporting events. ([ticketshop-thueringen.de](https://www.ticketshop-thueringen.de/ort/erfurt/spielstaette/riethsporthalle/))
For search queries like Riethsporthalle today or Riethsporthalle Erfurt events today, it is also important to know that the event rhythm varies depending on the season. Volleyball home games, basketball home games, and special tournaments are not published as daily ongoing operations but as individual, clearly scheduled events. That is why it makes sense to view the hall in the search not just as a location but as a point of contact for changing game days. The Ticketshop Thüringen, for example, lists specific sports dates for the Riethsporthalle, and the official club pages repeatedly mention home games and cup matches in this hall. For guests, this means: Those who plan early have the best chance of getting suitable tickets and good seats; those who come spontaneously should check in advance whether admission, pre-sale, or day tickets are still available. The hall exemplifies a modern sports facility where digital event pages, club homepages, and ticket platforms work together. For SEO, this is particularly relevant: The keywords program, tickets, today, and events not only cover search behavior but also reflect the actual usage logic of the hall. ([ticketshop-thueringen.de](https://www.ticketshop-thueringen.de/ort/erfurt/spielstaette/riethsporthalle/))
Access, parking, and public transport to the Riethsporthalle
The Riethsporthalle is particularly attractive to many visitors because it is easily accessible. The official sports operation site mentions the location in northern Erfurt, not far from the Rieth tram stop on lines 1 and 6. Erfurt tourism confirms this connection and states the distance to the stop is about 290 meters. The Basketball Löwen also mention on their hall page that the Rieth stop is just a few minutes' walk away. In practice, this means: Those arriving without a car can easily reach the hall by tram and only need to plan a short walk. This is especially advantageous during home games because the pathways remain clear and access to the hall is quick. For visitors specifically searching for Riethsporthalle maps or Riethsporthalle address, this information is particularly valuable as it not only provides the house number but also facilitates actual orientation on-site. The address is Essener Straße 20, 99089 Erfurt, and the sports facility is located in the Rieth district, an area with other sports facilities in the immediate vicinity. ([erfurter-sportbetrieb.de](https://erfurter-sportbetrieb.de/project/riethsporthalle/))
Regarding parking, the situation is also clear but honest: there are good options, but not unlimited. The Erfurt sports operation mentions around 150 free parking spaces. At the same time, the hall page of the volleyball team points out that parking spaces directly at the Riethsporthalle are only available in limited numbers and for free. The Basketball Löwen express a similar sentiment and recommend arriving early due to possible limitations. Erfurt tourism also adds a nearby parking lot on Marie-Elise-Kayser-Straße. For visitors, this means in summary: The Riethsporthalle is well usable by both public transport and car, but those who want to arrive relaxed should plan a bit of extra time, especially on game days. This is also an important SEO aspect for the keywords Riethsporthalle Erfurt parking and Riethsporthalle Essener Straße Erfurt, as searchers generally do not want an abstract access description but concrete hints about parking spaces, proximity to the tram, and walking distance. This combination of tram, free parking spaces, and an additional parking lot in the vicinity makes the hall very practical for many target groups. ([erfurter-sportbetrieb.de](https://erfurter-sportbetrieb.de/project/riethsporthalle/))
Seating, capacity, and hall plan
When searching for Riethsporthalle seating plan, Riethsporthalle seats, and Riethsporthalle capacity, most people are looking for a quick answer to the question of how large the hall actually is. The official information is clear and very useful: The Erfurt sports operation states a sports usable hall area of more than 2,000 m², a main sports area of 45 by 31 meters, and up to 1,500 spectator seats, of which about 250 are optional. The basketball club adds perspective for game operations and states about 1,500 seats, around 200 standing places, and approximately 20 wheelchair spaces; additionally, there is an elevator available on the hall page. For visitors, this is an important signal as it describes the hall as sufficiently large for lively sports evenings without being overwhelming. At the same time, the number of optional seats shows that the capacity can be flexibly utilized depending on the event format. This is crucial for sports halls because a volleyball game, a basketball evening, or another tournament can have different seating and audience concepts. Those looking for a hall plan or seating chart usually also think of sightlines, grandstand positions, and how close they sit to the action. Although the hall does not publish a publicly visible seating plan in every situation like a classic concert hall, the size specifications, the two-sided seating, and wheelchair accessibility already provide a very good picture of the audience logic. ([erfurter-sportbetrieb.de](https://erfurter-sportbetrieb.de/project/riethsporthalle/))
From an SEO perspective, these facts are also important because keyword searches often target not only the hall name but also practical usage questions. Those entering Riethsporthalle Erfurt seating plan want to know if there are fixed grandstands, what the view is like, and whether there are special areas for families, groups, or guests with mobility impairments. The public information suggests that the hall is well prepared for such requirements: There are seating and standing places, an elevator, and on the tourism site, there are indications of toilets, accessible toilets, family-friendly restrooms, and a changing area. The official sports operation site adds further functional elements such as a fully graphic-capable scoreboard and additional ancillary rooms. This combination of capacity, facilities, and flexibility is one of the reasons why the Riethsporthalle is so interesting for clubs. It can accommodate large audiences while remaining clearly structured. Therefore, those seeking a reliable assessment of the hall's size do not receive an abstract description but concrete data on area, seating, and additional usability. This makes the hall equally appealing to sports fans and organizers. ([erfurter-sportbetrieb.de](https://erfurter-sportbetrieb.de/project/riethsporthalle/))
Volleyball, basketball, football, and other sports
The Riethsporthalle is primarily a sports hall for ball sports and club operations, and a large part of its public perception is derived from this. Historically and currently, it is associated with volleyball: The official Erfurt page for the opening names the SWE Volley-Team as its future home, and the club page of Schwarz-Weiß Erfurt continues to show the hall as a home venue with clear access and parking information. Current club announcements also speak of home games and cup matches in the Riethsporthalle. Basketball also plays an important role. The CATL Basketball Löwen list the Riethsporthalle as their playing hall, describe the access, point out entry rules, catering, and the family-friendly atmosphere, and publish their home games there. Thus, the hall is not just a building but a real meeting point for local fan and club culture. Therefore, when searching for Riethsporthalle Erfurt volleyball or Riethsporthalle Erfurt basketball, one does not find just any multipurpose hall but a sports venue with a clear home game identity. This is precisely what makes it strong for search queries, as the location is linked to specific teams, fixed game days, and recurring event formats. ([erfurt.de](https://www.erfurt.de/ef/de/service/aktuelles/am/2011/105878.html?utm_source=openai)
Moreover, the hall is versatile enough for further uses. The Erfurt sports operation mentions, in addition to the main sports area, three ancillary sports rooms for gymnastics, ballet, athletics, strength training, and apparatus gymnastics, as well as a billiard room and a Bundesliga-suitable 4-lane bowling alley in the basement. This shows that the Riethsporthalle is not only designed for a single sporting event but functions as a broadly usable sports complex. The public information also points to sporting events and tournaments in the surrounding area, so the hall is regularly available for special formats. In the context of the keyword football, the situation is somewhat different: The Riethsporthalle is not a classic football arena but is repeatedly mentioned in the club and event contexts of sports in Erfurt as a place for indoor football, tournaments, or club-related sports events. Therefore, when searching for Riethsporthalle Erfurt football, one usually does not mean a stadium but indoor sports, tournaments, or multi-sport events in winter or during preparation. This is exactly where the strength of the location shows: It is not limited to a single sport but is flexible enough for volleyball, basketball, bowling, gymnastics formats, and other indoor events. For keyword analysis, this means that the hall covers several closely related thematic fields that support each other. ([erfurter-sportbetrieb.de](https://erfurter-sportbetrieb.de/project/riethsporthalle/))
Photos, facilities, and features of the Riethsporthalle
Those searching for Riethsporthalle photos usually want a quick impression of architecture, atmosphere, and functionality. The official sports operation site helps with this as it shows several images of the hall and additionally provides a link to the Geoportal Erfurt. This is practical because visitors receive not only the address but also visual orientation. Erfurt tourism complements the location description with clear information about the facilities: The hall was completed in October 2011, is part of the Sports Center North, and has more than 2,000 m² of sports usable hall space. In addition, there are three further ancillary rooms, a billiard room, a bowling alley with four lanes, and a fully graphic-capable display system. The Basketball Löwen add for game days that an elevator is available and that the hall is also designed for wheelchair use. Thus, the Riethsporthalle is not only large but also practically thought out. Such facts are important for potential visitors because they can assess before their first visit whether the hall fits their occasion. Particularly attractive is the mix of professional use and everyday practicality: The hall feels sporty but not anonymous; modern but clearly focused on function. This balance makes it interesting for spectators, teams, and clubs alike. ([erfurter-sportbetrieb.de](https://erfurter-sportbetrieb.de/project/riethsporthalle/))
Among the features of the Riethsporthalle is also its environment. The official tourism site describes that there are other sports facilities in the immediate vicinity, including the cycling track, the sports field facility Am Nordpark, and the sports field facility Essener Straße with a multifunctional building inaugurated in 2021. Thus, the hall is not isolated but part of a sports cluster where various disciplines and uses coexist. For visitors, this is pleasant because it allows for better planning of the journey and the surrounding area can be organized both sportingly and organizationally. Additionally, there are bike racks, toilets, accessible toilets, and family-friendly restrooms listed by Erfurt tourism. Together with the free parking spaces and proximity to the tram, a very balanced usage concept emerges. Therefore, from a keyword perspective, not only photos but also terms like facilities, features, modern, accessible, and location are relevant. Therefore, those who find the Riethsporthalle online do not get an event hall with show effects but a solid, versatile, and well-maintained sports facility with strong regional ties. This makes it equally interesting as a location for search engines, fans, and organizers. History, location in northern Erfurt, and surroundings
The history of the Riethsporthalle begins with the replacement construction as part of a public-private partnership project. The official Erfurt report on the topping-out ceremony in 2011 describes that after about eight months of construction, the topping-out ceremony was celebrated, and the city also documents the transfer of funding and the later completion. The Erfurt sports operation states the construction period as 2010/2011 and completion as October 2011. Thus, the Riethsporthalle is a relatively young hall with a clearly documented background of its creation. It was built to strengthen the sports location in northern Erfurt and to better support recreational and ball sports. This aligns with the official city announcements at the opening, which described the hall as the home for the SWE Volley-Team and other sports uses. For keyword searches, this history is relevant because terms like background, history, new, modern, and location are often closely associated with the hall. The Riethsporthalle is therefore not a historically grown traditional building in the classical sense but a consciously modern replacement building designed to functionally strengthen sports in the Rieth district. ([erfurt.de](https://www.erfurt.de/ef/de/service/aktuelles/am/2011/105783.html?utm_source=openai))
The location in northern Erfurt is also a defining feature. The hall is located at Essener Straße 20 in the Rieth district and is surrounded by several other sports facilities. Erfurt tourism emphasizes the proximity to the cycling track, the sports field facility Am Nordpark, and the sports field facility Essener Straße; the Erfurt sports operation additionally mentions the Rieth tram stop on lines 1 and 6. The surroundings are therefore clearly sports-oriented and make the location particularly sensible for club and youth sports. Those searching for Riethsporthalle Erfurt address, Riethsporthalle maps, or Riethsporthalle Essener Straße Erfurt not only receive a postal address but also orientation within a real sports location. Additionally, the environment for visitors is practical: tram, parking options, further sports fields, and a clearly structured hall area are located close together. This combination is typical for Erfurt and explains why the Riethsporthalle performs so well in search terms. It is a hall with a clear address, distinct function, and a location that gains additional relevance from its proximity to other sports facilities. Those coming here do not just attend a game but visit an important component of the Sports Center North of the city.
Really nice sports hall with lots of parking and a bright, modern white design. Food is available inside, and getting a free key ring and bottle opener as souvenirs was a great surprise! There are also plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, so it’s easy to make a full outing of it. I even watched the shortest volleyball match of my life here — the Erfurt vs. Münster game was over in just about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Great atmosphere despite the defeat.
