Kalif Storch - Erfurt | Program & Tickets
The Kalif Storch is Erfurt's creative club and event location in the historic Zughafen Kulturbahnhof, just a short walk from the main train station. In the halls of a former freight station, a vibrant cultural cosmos has developed here, uniting club nights, concerts, readings, open-air formats, and community events under one roof. The address Zum Güterbahnhof 20 is located in an urban area that has gained profile in recent years as ICE-City-East. Characteristic of the Kalif Storch is the mix of rough industrial charm, a flexible outdoor area, and a program that confidently oscillates between techno, hip-hop, and live acts. The main floor is complemented by the smaller room kleiner Muck as well as courtyards and niches that serve as open-air and chill-out zones in the summer. The awareness team, clear house rules, and respectful interaction shape the visitor experience. Thus, the Kalif Storch is not just a club in the classical sense but a place for discoveries and encounters – for night owls, concert fans, creatives, and anyone who enjoys culture.
Events and Program Today at Kalif Storch
If you want to know what is happening today or on the weekend at Kalif Storch, check the club's official program page first. Here, club nights, concerts, cultural specials, and open-air formats are published with dates, times, entry and start times, often also with short descriptions and line-ups. The programmatic range regularly includes electronic nights with local and international DJs, urban series with hip-hop, RnB, and trap, concert evenings from singer-songwriters to indie to rap, workshops, and extraordinary specials such as open-air cinema in the courtyard. Formats with daytime or early evening character, where guests groove into the evening after work, also have their fixed place. For example, there was an open-air cinema series in the summer, which had an earlier entry time and was free of charge – perfect for balmy evenings in Zughafen flair. In addition to its own events, Kalif Storch also lists concerts that take place in cooperation with external organizers. Agencies like Landstreicher Konzerte list the club as a venue; thus, tours of national artists reach Erfurt, which would otherwise tend to migrate to metropolitan areas. Those planning the program should also keep an eye on the social media channels: short-term timetable changes, entry notices, awareness information, or remaining tickets are communicated there in a timely manner. For spontaneous visitors: the box office is often open for club nights, while for concerts, it depends on capacity. Practical tip for the day X: arrive on time, grab a drink, and let the atmosphere work – the paths are short, entry is well organized, and the floors warm up staggered depending on the format. Because the program is consciously curated to be diverse, it is worth going through the monthly overviews and marking favorite series. Anyone visiting Erfurt will find here a cultural constant with an urban but pleasant scale: large enough for energy, small enough for closeness.
Tickets and Entry: Pre-Sale, Box Office, Age Restrictions
You can usually get tickets directly through the event entries of Kalif Storch or through the shops of the respective organizers linked in the announcements. For club nights, there is often both pre-sale and box office. For concerts, the pre-sale tickets often run through external systems (for example, Tickettoaster-based shops, Krasserstoff, or Ticketshop Thüringen), which are listed in the event information. Entry times depend on the event – for concerts, entry is often in the early evening (e.g., 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM), while for club nights, it is typically later (e.g., from 11:00 PM), in individual cases with extended weekend formats. You should definitely bring a valid ID, as the club clearly communicates the ID requirement visibly in the event texts. Regarding age restrictions: for party series, entry is generally from 18 years; numerous hip-hop and club formats explicitly state this. For concert evenings, younger visitors may also be allowed in individual cases – here, the respective terms and conditions and event pages regulate details such as carrying an ID or special notes for minors; this information varies by organizer and is available for viewing before purchase in the ticket shop. The house rules of Kalif Storch provide the framework for respectful and safe interaction: no place for sexism, racism, discrimination, or violence, prohibition of illegal substances and dangerous objects, no problematic clothing, and no liquids carried – the latter must be surrendered at the entrance. If someone feels uncomfortable, they can turn to the designated awareness team, which is available during the evenings; a contact address via email for feedback after the event is also set up. This creates a noticeably welcoming environment where guests and crews can move safely. For all those who are spontaneous: check the program page and the latest posts on the event day; remaining tickets, changed timings, or hints about capacity will be shared there shortly. This way, you can avoid waiting times and be relaxed and on time on the floor.
Directions and Parking at Zughafen
The Kalif Storch is located in Zughafen Kulturbahnhof, Zum Güterbahnhof 20, 99085 Erfurt. The location is both separate from the old town center and yet central – a rare combination that is ideal for night events. The club is within walking distance from Erfurt main train station; the distance to the nearest major public transport connection is about 1.3 kilometers. If you come by car, you have two options: parking directly at Zughafen (depending on the event and capacity) as well as the parking garage at the main train station as a reliable alternative with clearly regulated opening hours and parking capacities. The access to the Zughafen area is signposted; please pay attention to the traffic and safety rules applicable on-site, such as permanently kept clear passage widths. The path is intuitive: approach via the Erfurt city center axes, then follow the signs towards Zughafen Kulturbahnhof. For visitors who want to avoid parking pressure, the combination of train plus a short walk or arriving by tram close to the main station and walking the remaining minutes is recommended. If you are coming for the first time, you should also plan some buffer time: the area is spacious, offers several creative spots and studios, and invites you to arrive even before entering. During large events or double bookings in Zughafen (e.g., parallel uses in halls), paths and entry areas may adjust dynamically – the signage on-site will lead you reliably. For logistics such as band or technical deliveries, there are ramps and supply connections on the premises; this is not relevant for regular guests but explains why the area can switch smoothly between concert operations and club nights. Important for late departures: the footpath back to the main train station is illuminated and manageable; taxis are readily available at the station, and ride options are also easily arranged in the city.
Concerts and Club Nights: Sound, Rooms, and Capacity
The Kalif Storch combines the energetic pulse of a club with the flexibility of a compact concert hall. The capacity is around 400 people and is thus deliberately designed for closeness and visibility. The heartbeat is the main floor, whose acoustic and spatial properties have been noticeably improved during a comprehensive renovation. A higher and better visible DJ area, optimized sightlines, additional seating, and an expanded balcony create what many guests appreciate: an overview without distance, intensity without crowding. In concert seating arrangements, additional seats can be generated; in standing operations, a dense but friendly atmosphere arises thanks to short paths. Additionally, the small Muck showcases its strengths in chamber plays – for workshops, table tennis formats, readings, or intimate gigs. The technical backbone with updated lighting and sound technology supports both powerful club nights with electronic setups and dynamic live mixes with bands. The courtyard as an outdoor area expands the possibilities in warm months: whether a pre-drink outside, a short breather between two sets, or curated open-air segments – the program uses the space variably. That the club is embedded in Zughafen brings additional advantages: cooperation opportunities with neighboring halls, short supply routes, tested logistics. Content-wise, this is reflected in a range from techno series to urban nights to tour stops of nationally known acts. Typical for the venue are clear timings in the event texts, which allows for relaxed evening planning. And because the team has been mediating between club culture and concert logic for years, hybrid formats also succeed without breaks – a reason why Kalif Storch is as attractive for organizers as it is for the community on the dance floor.
Open Decks and Community Events
The Open Decks at Kalif Storch are a showcase for community closeness and talent promotion. During the summer months, sessions were held multiple times on Wednesday evenings between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM – with free entry, relaxed bar atmosphere, and curated slots. Applications run through a partner platform; this makes the process on-site manageable, the transitions between sets run smoothly, and both newcomers and more experienced local DJs receive fair playtimes. Musically, the format remains deliberately open: depending on the edition, the focus shifts between house, techno, breakbeat, hip-hop-related material, or experimental club sounds – always with an eye on ensuring that the dramaturgy carries through the evening. For guests, the Open Decks are the perfect opportunity to meet friends during the week, discover new music, and experience the Zughafen atmosphere in the daylight. For acts, it is the chance to test in front of an audience, network, and prepare for the leap into club nights or bookings. The team on-site supports with basic technical instruction, level and hygiene changes. In the courtyard, one enjoys the industrial-urban backdrops while indoors, depending on the weather, backup is ready. An additional appeal: the sessions are often timed so that sunsets and the blue hour merge with the music – a setting that is considered particularly atmospheric in the community. Anyone wishing to participate should keep an eye on the program page; new dates with all details (entry, process, application) will be announced there. And even if entry was free in the past, it is advisable to come early: the slots are popular, the terrace fills up, and the transition into the evening is fluid. Thus, a simple idea – open decks, fair chance, good bar – grows into a real community format that shapes the DNA of Kalif Storch.
Table Tennis on Thursday: Ping-Pong, Beats, and Bar
Hardly any format illustrates the versatility of Kalif Storch as playfully as the table tennis Thursday in the small Muck. Here, movement therapy in the best sense meets bass lines and bar – round robin, one-on-one, and creative game modes alternate with danceable tracks. In urban event entries, the format has been described as a weekly meeting on Thursdays, sometimes with open entry in the evening, musical accompaniment, and clear indications of allowed or not allowed items: alcoholic beverages are not permitted, closed non-alcoholic drinks have been tolerated in some announcements; specific details vary depending on the edition and are documented in the respective event description. Recurring highlights in the past ranged from action prices at the bar (e.g., house shots at special conditions) to small challenges like round robin records. The character remains deliberately low-threshold: those who want to train seriously will find their needs met; those just looking for fun after work will too. The audience is diverse – students, apprentices, after-work crews, sporty individuals, the curious. And because it takes place in the small Muck, a closeness is created that you would never have in larger sports halls: short paths to the bar, direct eye contact, spontaneous cheering. Here too, the awareness principle applies: respectful communication, space for everyone, and a vigilant eye from the team. The format functions independently while also accompanying the weekly program – for some, it is the warm-up towards the weekend, for others, a favorite ritual that distinguishes the club from classical venue schemes. When summer opens the doors, parts shift to the courtyard, which brings together the acoustic backdrop of the city and the industrial architecture. Tip for newcomers: come early, get in the groove, grab a round at the bar, and then into the match – the music sets the pulse, the Muck sets the rhythm.

A fun place to party. On Thursdays cover is 1eur, there's ping pong, lots of students, and a wild music mix is offered. On Saturdays the techno lovers are invited to dance the night away. The location is great, an old train station that has been redone nicely.

Awesome on Thursdays! Chill drinks, table tennis and some tunes (open until 2am). On the weekends there are sometime techno parties with good DJs. Make sure to come early as there are often situations where the maximum capacity is reached.
