Cacti-Haage | Opening Hours & Online Shop
Since 1685, the Haage family has been documented as a gardening family in Erfurt, and since 1822, Cacti-Haage has specialized in cacti, with the location at Blumenstraße 68 being used since 1904. Today, the business presents itself as a traditional cactus nursery with a huge selection, greenhouses, a catalog, an online shop, and events on-site. Those who want to not only see plants but also select, compare, and receive expert advice in peace will find here an address that consistently combines trade, collection, and gardening experience. ([wp.cacti-haage.de](https://wp.kakteen-haage.de/die-aelteste-kakteenzucht-der-welt/?utm_source=openai))
Opening Hours and Visit to the Nursery
The official FAQ states clear times for visiting on-site: Cacti-Haage is open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday to Friday, and from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturdays; the nursery is closed on Sundays and public holidays. In addition, there is a sales area of over 1,200 m² where visitors can select, view, touch, and purchase. This is exactly what makes the charm of this location: It is not about an anonymous shelf, but about real browsing among healthy plants, neatly labeled specimens, and an environment that works equally well for collectors and the curious. ([gaertnerei.kakteen-haage.de](https://gaertnerei.kakteen-haage.de/faq/oeffnungszeiten/?utm_source=openai))
Especially with cacti and succulents, an on-site visit is often the best way because shape, spines, size, and growth appear much better on the greenhouse table than on a small screen. Cacti-Haage positions itself exactly like this: as a place where selection and advice come together and where one can not only buy but also learn. The official homepage emphasizes the diversity of plants and refers to the greenhouses as the central shopping experience. For inquiries about cacti-haage opening hours, cacti haage shop, or a spontaneous visit to Erfurt, this is the most important practical info. ([cacti-haage.de](https://www.kakteen-haage.de/))
Online Shop, Catalog, and Selection
The website describes three ways to find a new favorite plant: the quick online shop, the printed catalog, and direct shopping at the nursery. In terms of content, the selection for a specialty nursery is impressively broad: Over 3,500 species and around 2,000 varieties are listed, along with plants, seeds, accessories, books, cactus art, and care items such as pots, substrates, fertilizers, and plant protection. For people specifically searching for cacti-haage online shop, cacti-haage catalog, or cacti haage shop, this structure is important because it covers the entire range from collector plants to care materials. ([cacti-haage.de](https://www.kakteen-haage.de/))
The catalog is officially offered as a printed edition, as a screen flip catalog, and as a PDF; the archive dates back to the first edition from 1824. For the 2025 season, the catalogs were already sent out in December 2024, and the order text mentions cacti, other succulents, the large selection of leaf cacti, tillandsias, other epiphytes, as well as literature and accessories. This is particularly valuable for SEO because it not only covers the main keyword cacti-haage catalog but also allows specialized terms like leaf cacti and epiphytic plants to occur naturally. Cacti-Haage thus does not appear as just any shop but as a professionally deep-rooted collector's business with a developed publication culture. Open House Day and Events 2026
On May 9, 2026, Cacti-Haage invites you to the open house in Erfurt according to the official event page. The program is clearly tailored to experience and professional audiences: sales on over 1,500 m² from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, advice from experienced staff, tours of the ancient mother plant stocks, and time to chat with other cactus friends. Additionally, there will be the famous cactus bratwurst and other Thuringian specialties from the grill. Those searching for cacti-haage open house day 2026 will not only get a date but a real overview of what makes this event so special. ([cacti-haage.de](https://www.kakteen-haage.de/tag-der-offenen-tuer/?utm_source=openai))
The event page also mentions other dates, such as the CactusWorkCamp on May 30 and June 6, 2026, as well as the summer festival Querbeet on August 22, 2026, with the neighboring herb nursery Valeriana. This shows that Cacti-Haage functions not only as a shop and nursery but as a lively meeting point for a gardening scene that repeatedly meets in Erfurt throughout the season. So, those searching for cacti-haage erfurt will find here more than just a place to shop: namely, a location with recurring formats, tastings, advice, and a gardening community. ([cacti-haage.de](https://www.kakteen-haage.de/Kakteen-Veranstaltungen/?utm_source=openai))
Directions to Erfurt and Practical Tips
For directions, the website refers to Google Maps: enter the address, start the route, and let it guide you directly to the nursery. Those arriving by train can reach Erfurt by ICE; from the main station, Cacti-Haage recommends a taxi, which takes about 10 minutes depending on traffic. Alternatively, you can take the tram towards Rieth or Europaplatz to the stop Webergasse / Andreaskirche, the first stop after the Domplatz, and walk about 20 minutes on foot along Blumenstraße. This information is especially practical and concrete for inquiries like cacti-haage directions or cacti-haage erfurt. ([cacti-haage.de](https://www.kakteen-haage.de/en/So-kommen-Sie-zu-Kakteen-Haage/))
The website does not specify a fixed number of parking spaces; instead of a classic parking guide, Cacti-Haage clearly relies on route planning and telephone support. For visitors, this means in practice: check the journey briefly in advance, call if uncertain, and plan the visit so that there is enough time for greenhouse, advice, and shopping. Especially since the focus is on plants, selection, and expertise, this lean visitor logic makes sense. Those who do not just research online but really want to see in person can reliably reach their destination with this information. History since 1685, Owner Ulrich Haage, and the Cactus Museum
The official family history makes it clear why Cacti-Haage is often described as traditional. The Haages have been documented as gardeners in Erfurt since 1685, Friedrich Adolph Haage shaped the specialization in cacti in 1822, and the current location at Blumenstraße 68 has been used since 1904. In the imprint, the business refers to itself as the oldest cactus breeding in Europe - since 1822, with Ulrich Haage e. K. named as the owner, as well as a member of several professional associations and a registered CITES propagation business. For inquiries like cacti-haage owner or cacti-haage museum, this connection between family, specialized business, and documentation is central. ([wp.cacti-haage.de](https://wp.kakteen-haage.de/die-aelteste-kakteenzucht-der-welt/?utm_source=openai))
This traditional image fits the small cactus museum, which has existed since 1992 according to the website. There, curiosities, historical documents, letters, and other finds from several hundred years of company history are displayed; the collection can be visited for free on the open house day. This chapter of history is complemented by the CactusPodcast, which has been broadcasting since 2019 from the studio in the middle of the cactus nursery and accompanies the plant world with stories, knowledge, and personality. This is remarkable because here not only is there trade, but it is visibly conveyed how a family nursery has developed over generations. ([cacti-haage.de](https://www.kakteen-haage.de/Kakteen-Museum/))
Leaf Cacti, Succulents, and Care Knowledge for Collectors
Those specifically interested in leaf cacti will find an explicitly mentioned selection at Cacti-Haage. The catalog highlights the large offering of leaf cacti, tillandsias, and other epiphytes, while the knowledge areas of the website cover additional topics such as cactus care, sowing, care of leaf and epiphytic plants, as well as hardy cacti. This makes the business relevant for inquiries like cacti-haage leaf cacti, but also professionally credible, as selection and care knowledge are closely related. Especially with specialized plants, this connection is often more important than sheer product quantity. ([cacti-haage.de](https://www.kakteen-haage.de/en/Katalog-bestellen-oxid/?utm_source=openai))
The homepage also emphasizes that Cacti-Haage offers robust plants for windowsills, greenhouses, and gardens, along with suitable substrates, accessories, and care instructions. This is more than a sales promise: it describes a classic specialty business that understands plants not in isolation but in the context of their later culture. For collectors, this means reliable orientation in selection, and for beginners, a good entry without overwhelming. So, those searching for cacti-haage photos, cacti-haage reviews, or generally for a special plant address in Erfurt should not only see this business as a shop but as a lasting source of gardening knowledge. The real added value arises from the mix of tradition, advice, rarities, and a selection that ranges from collector's items to easily cultivable favorite plants. Absolutely amazing nursery, a true paradise for a cactus lover. So many beautiful varieties, including uncommon ones, all sorted, labeled, and very healthy! I could spend hours just walking around, but of course I couldn’t walk away without some new plants.

Super place for cactus lovers. Not a "supermarket". Very scientific, with a latin name tag on every plant you buy. It shows that the family that owns it has been gardeners since 1685. Very recommendable.

Came all the way from Asia, Taiwan. Plants are in great shape. Very clean and orderly greenhouse, great shopping experience. Wide range of cactus and succulent. Lots of Epi and ECHINOPSIS HYBRID to choose from. Lots of tropical cactus. Sign not significant, a little tricky to find the way for backpackers. Not enough euphorbia but I think it’s because of the cold weather. Seed list has no picture, this may be a problem for people not familiar with latin names. But people asking for the seed list must already be experienced growers, so not really an issue. Anyway, it’s a lifetime experience.
