Old Opera Erfurt Program Today and Schedule 2026
The current schedule clearly shows why the search queries around Old Opera Erfurt program today and Old Opera program 2026 are so relevant: The venue operates with a continuously updated calendar, where music, comedy, musicals, cabaret, and family formats alternate. For spring 2026, the official schedule lists, among others, Ulrich Tukur & Die Rhythmus Boys on April 10, Subway to Sally on April 11, Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show on April 17, Osan Yaran on April 18, Michael Schulte on April 24, and HEAVYSAURUS on April 26. In May, more names follow, such as EURE MÜTTER, The Music of Hans Zimmer & Others, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Francis Rossi, The Ten Tenors, The Magical Music of Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit, Conni and the Kastelruther Spatzen. This creates a program that is consciously broader than a pure concert calendar and positions the Old Opera as a versatile stage. ([dasdie.de](https://www.dasdie.de/unsere-haeuser/alte-oper.html))
Those searching for today or for a specific month should always check the schedule directly on the venue's website, as dates can be postponed, sold out, or added at short notice. This is also evident on the official site: In addition to regular ticket links, there are notes such as remaining tickets, more info, or postponed from. For SEO purposes, this is an important point because users searching for terms like old opera erfurt program today, old opera program 2026, or old opera today almost always expect an immediate answer. The Old Opera provides this answer through the current online schedule, through ticket linking, and through the clear presentation of each event. So, if someone is planning a spontaneous cultural evening or is already looking for the coming weeks, they will quickly find the right orientation there. ([dasdie.de](https://www.dasdie.de/unsere-haeuser/alte-oper.html))
Directions, Parking, and Public Transport at the Old Opera Erfurt
For many visitors, the question of parking and directions is almost as important as the actual program. The Old Opera is located at Theaterstraße 1 in 99084 Erfurt. The Erfurt tourism site states the distance to the tram is about 180 meters and indicates the Domplatz parking garage and the Sparkassen-Finanzzentrum parking garage nearby. The venue's website also mentions parking spaces on Brühlerstraße and Eichenstraße. This makes planning the journey easy if one does not want to rely on finding a spontaneous parking space in the immediate vicinity. Especially on sold-out evenings or larger guest performances, it is advisable to arrive early and plan the last stretch on foot. ([erfurt-tourismus.de](https://www.erfurt-tourismus.de/events-veranstaltungen/theater-kabarett/alte-oper?utm_source=openai))
The directions on the venue's website are very specific and therefore particularly helpful for drivers. Those coming from the A4, A71, B7, or B4 receive clear directions to the Old Opera; access routes via Bindersleben, Erfurt-West, Erfurt-Vieselbach, Erfurt-East, and the area around the Kaffeetrichter or the Juri-Gagarin-Ring are described. It is also important to note that parking in front of the theater is prohibited and illegally parked vehicles may be towed at the owner's expense. For public transport, the venue's website recommends tram line 2 towards Messe/Ega to Brühler Garten; from there, it is just a few minutes' walk to the Old Opera. So, those searching for old opera erfurt parking or old opera erfurt directions receive here a combination of central location, nearby parking garages, and usable tram connections. ([dasdie.de](https://www.dasdie.de/unsere-haeuser/alte-oper.html))
Seating Plan, Seats, and Facilities of the Old Opera
Regarding seating, there is a small but notable deviation on the official pages for SEO and visitor interest: The Erfurt tourism site states 970 seats, while the venue's site lists 930 seats. However, both figures clearly show that it is the largest theater in the city of Erfurt and a house designed for larger guest performances and diverse formats. In practice, this means: The Old Opera is compact enough for good sightlines but large enough for popular tours, concerts, and family events. Additionally, there are 32 rigging points for decoration, a revolving stage, and two boxes for special occasions. This combination is attractive for both organizers and audiences because it indicates changing stage designs, different productions, and flexible usage. ([erfurt-tourismus.de](https://www.erfurt-tourismus.de/events-veranstaltungen/theater-kabarett/alte-oper?utm_source=openai))
The seating plan is therefore not just a technical detail but a real driver of searches. Those searching for old opera erfurt seating plan often want to know how close the stage and seat are to each other, how the balcony and stalls feel, and whether the room feels more intimate or large. The official website signals this requirement through the menu item Seating and the gallery views of the hall, balcony, panorama, box office, and foyer. Also, the description of wonderful acoustics indicates that the Old Opera is designed for auditory experience and intelligibility. This is important for visitors when attending cabaret, musicals, concerts, or shows and wanting to consciously choose their seats. The Old Opera is thus not just any multipurpose room but a theater with a recognizable profile, where space, technology, and atmosphere belong together. ([erfurt-tourismus.de](https://www.erfurt-tourismus.de/events-veranstaltungen/theater-kabarett/alte-oper?utm_source=openai))
History and Architectural Character of the Old Opera
The history of the Old Opera is closely linked to the changes in the Erfurt theater landscape. The venue's website tells that the city theater was reopened on June 21, 1945, with the approval of the Soviet military administration. In 1956, it was renamed the opera house as part of the municipal stages Erfurt. On June 8, 1997, the artists bid farewell to their theater community with a colorful program before the traditional building was initially deemed unsuitable for modern theater operations due to its structural condition. After seven years of performance pause and extensive renovation and restoration work, the house was revived on September 15, 2004, for its 110th anniversary and was named Old Opera. This historical line is exciting for visitors because it explains today's charm not as a coincidence but as a result of several epochs. ([dasdie.de](https://www.dasdie.de/unsere-haeuser/alte-oper.html))
The architectural character also belongs to the brand identity of the house. The Erfurt tourism site describes the Old Opera as a building that stands out both inside and outside through the style of the 1920s. This very style gives the house a special mix of nostalgia and theater tradition that distinguishes it from modern event halls. At the same time, the Old Opera is not a museum but a lively performance venue that has been transitioned from its historical exterior to modern operations. This makes the location particularly suitable for formats that need atmosphere: operettas, musicals, revues, comedy, cabaret, or concerts benefit from a space that does not feel sterile but has character. So, those searching for old opera erfurt today or old opera erfurt program often seek not just dates but exactly this connection of history, ambiance, and lively use. ([erfurt-tourismus.de](https://www.erfurt-tourismus.de/events-veranstaltungen/theater-kabarett/alte-oper?utm_source=openai))
Tickets, Service, and Practical Tips for Your Visit
When purchasing tickets, the Old Opera relies on a mix of online availability and classic advance sales. The venue's website mentions a ticket and information hotline service as well as ticket sales at Lange Brücke 29 in 99084 Erfurt. The opening hours are stated as Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and closed on Saturdays. This is practical for visitors who want to ask in person whether there are remaining tickets, which seating category is sensible, or when admission begins. At the same time, the current event pages lead directly to tickets or further information, keeping the path from search interest to booking short. For the search terms old opera erfurt tickets or old opera program today, this direct connection between schedule and ticketing is crucial. ([dasdie.de](https://www.dasdie.de/unsere-haeuser/alte-oper.html))
Also, around the visit itself, the Old Opera is well-equipped. The official site points to a drinks and food menu, which rounds off the evening not only culturally but also gastronomically. The combination of classic theater ambiance, manageable size, and clear service pathways makes the house particularly attractive for guests who want to spend a relaxed evening without long distances. It is also practical that the forecourt is not suitable as a parking area, so visitors should plan for a parking space or the tram in advance. Those coming with family, friends, or as a couple can easily combine their visit with a stroll through the city center, as the Old Opera is centrally located and the main routes are short. Especially at concerts, musicals, and shows, this creates a visit feeling that is organized, comfortable, and atmospheric at the same time. ([dasdie.de](https://www.dasdie.de/unsere-haeuser/alte-oper.html))
Events, Genres, and Experience Value in the House
The Old Opera Erfurt is not just an address for individual cultural sectors but for a broad mix of audiences. The official tourism site describes the house as a guest performance venue for theater, opera, cabaret, concerts, and musicals, and this diversity is also reflected in the current schedule. The fact that comedy, film music, tribute shows, family formats, and pop or rock productions appear there is no coincidence but part of the concept. For the Erfurt city center, this means: The Old Opera acts as a cultural magnet that attracts different target groups on many evenings. For search intent, this is also important, as queries like old opera erfurt concerts, old opera erfurt cabaret, or old opera program 2026 are usually expressions of a broad expectation of the house. Those looking for a specific genre will find it here, as will users who simply want to plan an entertaining evening. ([erfurt-tourismus.de](https://www.erfurt-tourismus.de/events-veranstaltungen/theater-kabarett/alte-oper?utm_source=openai))
This mix of historical context and broad event profile makes the Old Opera particularly strong for SEO. People searching for old opera erfurt program today usually want to quickly understand whether the house is more classical, more modern, or clearly mixed. The answer is: It is both. The building visibly carries its history, but the schedule is consciously open to many formats. Additionally, there is good accessibility by tram and by car with nearby parking garages. For visitors looking for an alternative to large arenas, the Old Opera also offers advantages: The paths are short, the structure is manageable, and the atmosphere is significantly more personal than in huge halls. This is precisely why the Old Opera Erfurt remains a strong destination for all who want to experience culture in a house with character. It is small so you cannot get lost but for that many people, it is too small and there are too few toilet stalls. But it is clean and the entry is smooth. The sound is good from all positions. At my event there weren't screens for the upper and farther back seats which should've been there.
