Festive Sounds to Kick Off the Advent Season
On Saturday, November 28, 2026, the Collegium musicum of the Erfurt City Music School invites you to a pre-Christmas concert in the historic Town Hall Festsaal. Starting at 5 PM, the traditional string orchestra will open the concert series on the eve of the first Advent with festive music and atmospheric tones.
Advent Atmosphere in the Town Hall Festsaal
The Town Hall Festsaal provides the ideal setting for a concentrated concert experience amidst historic architecture and warm string sounds. When the first notes resonate, the festive acoustics of the hall blend with the special audience mood of the pre-Christmas season. The concert is aimed at music lovers as well as families and all those who wish to start Advent musically.
Collegium musicum with a Long Tradition in Erfurt
The Collegium musicum was founded in 1956 as the university orchestra of the Medical Academy Erfurt. From the very beginning, besides university members, citizens from various professional backgrounds, music educators, and orchestral musicians joined the ensemble. Today, the string orchestra has around 25 members.
Conducting and Orchestrated Tones
The artistic direction has been under Christian Beyer since 2021. Under his direction, the string players exhibit precise synchronization and festive orchestration that characterizes the Advent concert. The Erfurt City Music School continues an established concert tradition, creating an evening where musical care and pre-Christmas warmth come together.
Free Admission, Secure Your Ticket
Admission is free. As seating in the Town Hall Festsaal is limited, numbered tickets will be available from the administration of the music school starting November 16, 2026. Entry and start information will align with the official event start at 5 PM.
